7 Day Sugar Detox

They say that sugar is far more addictive than cocaine. According to research, lab rats apparently favour sugar over cocaine, when given the choice between the two. I therefore can’t help but wonder if there’s hope for those of us who are you addicted to sugar. And what does sugar do to our insides anyway? Do we all need to go to a sugar rehab facility ( I might need to patent that idea, if it doesn’t exist already)

Being the hardcore sugar addict I am, I’ve decided to take matters into my own hands. Quite frankly I don’t always have the best eating habits. I’ll eat fruits and veggies one week and hit the gym almost everyday, only to fall back into my old habits the next week by mercilessly binging on any edible foodstuffs I can get my hands on. I’m not proud of any of this but I’ll also admit that I’m a secret-eater, meaning that I’ll wait until the coast is clear, before I rush to the fridge or storage cabinet to grab something to eat, before someone sees me. (someone please tell me I’m not the only one who does this) And yes I know I’m lying to myself when I’m doing that but I guess old habits die hard. I’ve decided to go on this 7day sugar detox because I’m at that point in my life where I’m slowly realising that everything I do has consequences. Don’t get me wrong I already knew all this but I guess being young also means being reckless and worry-free, right?

By doing this, I hope to free myself from this addiction once and for all, and therefore have more control over my own body and what I put in it. I won’t go too much into the benefits of quitting sugar in this blogpost, instead I’ll provide the guidelines to eliminating sugar out of your diet, so that those willing to join me in this battle against sugar can follow. The rules are pretty simple, ELIMINATE ANY AND ALL FOODSTUFFS CONTAINING PROCESSED SUGARS AND REPLACE THEM WITH ALL NATURAL SUGARS FROM FRUITS AND VEGGIES! You choose  what you eat, when you eat it. Read product labels because even the “healthiest” of foods may contain a lot of added sugars.

Don’t drink your calories. Instead , drink enough water and add no sugar to your tea or coffee.

Replace processed foods with all natural foods like fuits, veggies and nuts

Begin your day with a cup of warm lemon-water
